Attendance

Attendance Message to Parents

One factor to help ensure success in school is good school attendance. It is very important for students to be in school, each and every day. Parents can help by making appointments before and after school and by monitoring the days students are absent from school. Parents are encouraged to contact Unity Braxton Middle School at 571-719-4233 to report an individual who will be absent from school. Students are required to be in school by 11:30 a.m. if they want to attend after school activities and after school events. When a student returns to school following an absence, a written note is required within two days of the absence. Students who do not bring this documentation, or are absent due to an unexcused reason, will receive failing grades on the missed work. A student who has five unexcused absences during a nine-week period will receive failing grades on his/her report card. Students suspended from school for five days automatically fail the nine-week period. If a student is absent 10 day or more (excused or unexcused), he/she may be retained if he/she does not make up his/her work. Please refer to the Prince William County Public Schools Code of Behavior. Parents are asked to not schedule family vacations during school time. If you should have any questions, please contact the Main Office.
