Meet the Student Counseling Staff
Unity Braxton Middle School Counselors school counselors are assigned by grade level. Please look below to verify who your school counselor is this school year.
Jayna, a dedicated counselor with extensive experience, transitioned from being a middle school teacher, counselor, and professor in higher education to her current role as an administrator. She previously served as a high school counselor in Prince William County Public Schools.
Jayna is passionate about fostering a positive and inclusive environment, Jayna guides and empowers students to achieve academic and personal growth. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in History from Hampton University, a Master’s in School Counseling and Human Development from George Mason University, and a Post Master’s in Clinical Counseling from Johns Hopkins University.
In her free time, Jayna enjoys spending quality moments with her family, exploring new travel destinations, and tending to her garden. She is grateful for the opportunity to serve the Unity Braxton Middle School community.
Shawn Biegler, is one of the middle school counselors for the 2025-2026 school year, and will be working with students with the last name A-Cu. I am thrilled to be back working with The Unity Braxton counseling team. She received her undergraduate degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, her master’s degree from American Public University with a concentration in School Counseling, and her Graduate Certificate from JMU with a concentration in Administration. Students are her ‘why’ when she comes to work each day and I look forward to working with each student and cannot wait to see what this year brings!
Emma is overjoyed to join the Unity Braxton counseling team, as a school counselor.
Emma is passionate about supporting students' academic, social-emotional, and
personal growth, and strives to create a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for
every student. She received her undergraduate degree from William & Mary with a
Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. In addition, she holds a Master of Education and
Education Specialist degree in School Counseling from James Madison University. In
her free time she loves to cook, spend time with friends and family, play tennis, and take
her dog exploring. She is excited and appreciative for the opportunity to join the UBMS
community.
Pamela Thomas is an experienced middle school educator with over 13 years in the public school system, serving as both a teacher and school counselor.
Pamela believes all students can be successful in school. She is dedicated to meeting the academic, social, and emotional needs of all her students at UBMS. Pamela is looking forward to fostering positive relationships with her students and believes a connection to school leads to success in the classroom, and beyond.
Pamela earned her bachelor’s degree from Mount Olive College located in North Carolina. After teaching for several years, Pamela earned her master’s degree in School Counseling from Liberty University.
Pamela has many hobbies such as cooking, entertaining, and decorating cakes. She also enjoys traveling the world, taking long walks, and spending time with her family.
